About You

We are seeking a skilled and motivated individual to join our Specialist Commissioning Team. The sucessful candidate will work closely with another administrator to provide continuous business support, focusing on the finance administration elements of the commissioning of exceptional services for children with Special Educational Needs (SEN).

To be successful you will need excellent written and verbal communication skills, a high standard of IT skills with experience of using a wide range of systems and packages, and sound collaboration and organisational skills to enable you to work very closely with colleagues to share and prioritise workloads and ensure that our statutory and departmental deadlines are met or exceded.

You will be customer-focused and able to build effective working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders, which includes schools, public sector services, parents, NHS, service providers, oither GCC services, suppliers and government agencies such as Ofsted.

The ideal candidates will possess a strong background in administration, coupled with experience in finance administration to include checking service level agreements and financial data, raising purchase orders, checking and processing invoices in line with GCC’s financial regulations, problem solving and managing the financial year end processes. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality, accurate and effective administrative services with a focus on meeting strict payment deadlines.

Systems you will use include Microsoft 365, in particular Teams, SharePoint, Outlook and Excel as well as SAP Procurement, Capita and website maintenance (Umbraco). You must be able to demonstrate great customer service skills and have the confidence to liaise with vendors, service providers and other stakeholders and customers by email and telephone in a busy role.

The role is based at Shire Hall in Gloucester. Initially office-based while you undertake induction and training, there will be an opportunity to hybrid work using GCC’s secure IT equipment. We ask that all team members work a proportion of their week in the office with colleagues and this will include Wednesdays to enable collaboration with the administrator working the end of the week in this role. Agile working is subject to the needs of the service being met.
