The Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) in collaboration with consultants and the multidisciplinary team will provide direct patient care within a specialist surgical hospital, and support the Director of Advanced Practice in delivering key performance targets.
The role will be responsible for the delivery of care to patients with complex acute, critical, and chronic health conditions, including the delivery of acute care services across specialisms including Cardiothoracic, Vascular, Neurologic, Spinal, Gastrointestinal, and Orthopaedics surgery.
Acting as a visible credible role model, the ANP will create a patient-centred environment recognised for its compassion, evidence based practice and superior service.
The post holder will build and maintain excellent working relationships with other departments to ensure a seamless service.
Advanced Nurse Practitioner
What will your duties include?
- Conducts thorough medical histories, performs complete physical examinations, initiates appropriate lab, imaging tests or other special tests required for evaluation of illness, and scrutinizes lab data on new and former clinic patients and hospital admissions to establish a record of the patient's current health status and to develop a working diagnosis and treatment plan.
- Initiates and interprets, at least to the point of recognizing deviations from normal, common laboratory, imaging, and other routine diagnostic procedures used to identify pathophysiologic processes.
- Performs routine procedures such as injections, immunizations, suturing and wound care, blood draws, designated IV starts, managing simple conditions produced by infection or trauma, assisting in the management of more complex illness and injury which may include assisting surgeons in conducting operations and taking initiative in performing evaluation and therapeutic procedures in response to life-threatening situations.
- Performs medication reconciliation and prescribes medication according to policies, and within the independent prescribers scope of practice.
- Performs specialized procedures following approval by Credentialing Committee, such as biopsies, spinal taps, thoracentesis, paracentesis or other specific procedures.
What we need from you?
- Current regulatory body registration with the Nursing & Midwifery Council, with no restrictions to practice, required
- Independent Prescriber, Including V300 course, required.
- IRMER certification, required.
- Immediate Life Support (ILS), required.
- Evidence of implementing quality systems and improved patient outcomes as a result.
