Community Integrated Care is one of the UK’s largest health and social care charities. We work hard to enriching the lives of people with many different care needs. It’s exciting and rewarding work, and we’re full of pride and passion for what we do.

Since the early days, we’ve grown to provide many innovative and bespoke care services to thousands of people across England and Scotland. We want to provide support based on the principles of choice, dignity and respect. This resonates in our vision of ‘Your Life, Your Choice’ and our strategy ‘Best Lives Possible’.

We have strong values and we’re proud to pioneer new ways of delivering social care to stand out in our sector. In the past two years, we have won or made the shortlist for over 100 national and regional awards!

We are also focussed on our people. Our Support Workers are dedicated and passionate about going ‘the extra mile’ for the people we support and in return, we go the extra mile for them by investing in pay, recognition, wellbeing and continued professional and personal development. We will provide you with all the training, support and personal protective equipment you need in your role and will help you develop, should you decide you want to develop your career with us.

Who you’ll be supporting & more about the role:
We live in a large supported living accommodation which is all one level, apart from the managers office which is up a set of stairs. Our flats are on the ground floor in different zones. We have a large garden that goes right around the outer building and it is lovely for walks around. We have a patch of garden that we like to work on in the summertime.
We have a large shared communal area, we have a TV in here where we listen to music and watch movies on our comfortable sofas. The doors leading from the communal area, to our communal garden space has a hut and a large area where we have BBQs in the summer and it has benches which is therapeutic when needing some time alone. We also have a ping pong table that we enjoy playing and it keeps us occupied. We use this area when we want to do activities, we also have Halloween and Christmas parties here etc and we all get together and decorate this area and sing on karaoke. We also have a space that we are currently turning into a ‘chill out zone’. This is a more quiet communal area that will be for chilling out and sensory items will be added. Our service is next to a college, but where we are placed is in a cul-de-sac so it is out of the way and very quiet. We don’t really have neighbours in the area apart from each other, as we are next to work buildings and a care home. There is a large car park on site with plenty of spaces to park, as well as a charging port for electric cars.

We are different in lots of ways (that’s what makes us so interesting) with our ages ranging between 21 to 74.We are all independent in our own ways here at Kirkdale. A lot of us here suffer with mental health problems, ranging from bipolar, personality disorder, depression etc. Some of us have autism and learning disabilities.
We all require support in lots of different ways, such as 1:1’s, shopping calls, domestic calls, meds calls, drop off/pick up to day services, cuppa and a chat, accessing the community for activities etc.
The staff here at Kirkdale are trained in all mandatory training, such as first aid, medication, fire safety, health and safety, autism etc. We also have outside professionals who work closely with our staff team to roll out helpful appropriate training, such as psychiatrists who hold training sessions for staff so they can gain a better understanding around mental health/our own individual needs.

We are proud of ourselves here at Kirkdale for so many things. We are helpful to eachother and to staff. We are also proud of our achievements in life and how far we have come to live independently in supported living. We all enjoy different activities, such as going to the gym, arts and crafts, football, attending football matches, jujitsu, dancing, acting, singing, going to discos/karaoke, spending time with friends and families. Some of us attend college and have dreams to find a job that we love. We are all passionate people who are caring and always smile, even when we have our struggles. We are good at getting to know people, and teaching people about ourselves. We would get along with people who are understanding, and who will not leave once faced with a difficult day. We would need you to be kind, patient, caring and funny. We are all adults with capacity and enjoy banter and meaningful conversations.

Your values:
The ideal candidate will have a Level 3 in Social Care and strong experience in mental health, autism and sensory communication, and physical health.
If you do not have a qualification, you will need to have experience in social care.
You will know how to connect with people and be passionate about supporting people to live independently. You will also be a brilliant mentor and share your skills and experiences with your colleagues.
We will develop your talents with a range of specialist training, including the opportunity to learn Positive Behaviour Support methods, Makaton and the Picture Exchange System.
During recruitment you will meet the people we support in their home. This will allow you to see their wonderful personalities first-hand and fully understand the level of support that they require.

Naturally it is important too that you share our company values - We Include; We Deliver; We Aspire; We Respect; We Enable, which are at the heart of everything we do and ensure that we deliver high quality, consistent care and support. People's values are important to use, so we look for people with:

  • Honesty
  • Determination
