Job description

Role Responsibility

Do you want to deliver improvement projects that will make a difference to the lives of Kent’s residents and particularly to the most vulnerable in society?

This is a rare and exciting opportunity for a Continuous Improvement specialist to join KCC’s Continuous Improvement team. The Continuous Improvement team sits within KCC’s central analytics function (Kent Analytics), meaning you will have the opportunity to work collaboratively alongside experts in data analysis, research and evaluation.

We’re looking for a highly-skilled, proactive individual with practical experience of delivering process improvements, business transformation and embedding Lean Six Sigma methodology within an organisation. You should be flexible, creative and analytical in your approach and confident in your use of appropriate methodologies to:

- Define a problem

- Identify and quantify root causes

- Design and implement solutions

- Measure impact

- Ensure improvements are sustained

You will have a flair for working with clients to scope and lead projects – confident in communicating and engaging at all levels. Excellent facilitation, presentation, report-writing and communication skills are essential. You will be passionate about using your specialist skills to make a positive difference: ensuring the impact of the team’s work is evidenced.

As an employee of Kent County Council, you will receive training suitable to the role and to support your development, along with excellent benefits, including 29 days annual leave (increasing to 30 days after 5 years’ service), membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme and flexible working.

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.

This post is subject to a Basic Disclosure Application to the Disclosure and Barring Service.

When completing your application form, in the Reasons for Applying section, please tell us how you meet the criteria in the Job Description & Person Specification – and support this with specific examples.
