Our development programme consists of five modules and runs in parallel to your permanent job. The modules are designed to bring out your interpersonal and leadership skills, and complement the hands-on technical experience that you will gain in your role.

We will also fully fund your academic qualification, the qualification you are enrolled on will be tailored to the role you will be doing, your academic level and personal ambitions. (We offer apprenticeships as well as other qualifications at various levels).

What you will be doing:

You will be enrolled onto an apprenticeship course in this field, to suit your current educational level. We can offer apprenticeships from a level 3 to a degree level apprenticeship fully funded by Galliford Try. The course level will be discussed with you at interview stage and will be confirmed at offer. At the end of the programme, you will gain a qualification in this field as well as learning the practical skills for the role throughout.

Alongside this, you will join us as part of our Trainee Development Programme, where you will be given the training and tools to develop your skills through a series of modules over a 2 year period followed by a graduation event.

As an Apprentice Quantity Surveyor, you will work closely with your line manager to assist in the commercial administration, reporting and performance on a single large project or several smaller schemes.

• Participate in creating a safe working environment.
• Use the latest Orbit software tools to support accurate reporting of costs and value to the business unit.
• Assist in the interpretation and critical evaluation of expenditure reports produced by internal cost systems.
• Be involved in the procurement of Subcontract partners including preparation of bid enquiry documentation and critical evaluation of bids.
• Draft Subcontract documentation.
• Support the administration of subcontract works packages including, interim assessments of the amount due and change management.
• Assist in the management of change in accordance with the form of contract, including the production and submission of Compensation Event Quotations and the maintenance of detailed schedules of value.
• Provide information to the Commercial team to assist in the production of monthly payment applications to the Client.
• Liaise with operational and engineering staff to maintain site records.
Other administrative support as required.
