The Adult Social Care Network Teams are excited to be able to offer an opportunity for someone to join the team as a trainee Social Worker, whilst we enable you to undertake the social work apprenticeship at Lincoln University.
We work with individuals aged eighteen plus, this means that our work is varied and changeable supporting people with a variety of different needs. The right candidate will be someone with person centred values with personal or professional experience of social care with a proactive approach and a commitment to learning and developing on their journey with us.
The successful candidate will undertake strength-based person-centred social care assessments and planning of support for people to live in their own homes, families, jobs and communities.
As this is a unique opportunity to work in our Adult Networks team whilst completing the apprenticeship in social work, there are key points to be aware of:
- You will be employed by North Lincolnshire Council as a Trainee Social Worker for the 3-year period of the apprenticeship, and it is a requirement of this employment to also be accepted on to the Social Work apprenticeship at Lincoln University.
- The apprenticeship will start in September 2024 and is a 3-year course.
- On successful completion of the apprenticeship, you will be a qualified Social Worker able to register with Social Work England, and you will be offered a permanent Social Worker post in one of the social work teams within Adults and Health at North Lincolnshire Council.
- The course is full time, Monday – Friday and during term time involves 3 days a week working in the network’s teams, 1 day a week being at Lincoln University and 1 day a week for study. These days are set by the University and cannot be changed. In University holiday time full time hours would be worked in the team unless on annual leave.
- Holiday times are set by the University and annual leave must be taken in accordance with allocated dates.
- You must be able to travel throughout North Lincolnshire for the role and be able to transport yourself to Lincoln University for the course.

We are holding drop-in sessions regarding this exciting opportunity on Tuesday 7 May, from 12:00 to 13:00 at Ashby Community Hub and on Wednesday 8 May, from 09:30 to 11:00 at Scunthorpe Central.
As part of the application process, and in addition to completing the application form for this post, you are required to submit a 1000-word essay with the following title: What is your understanding of social work, and the impact is has for people? This will need to be submitted via email to by the closing date.
Interviews will be held jointly with Lincoln University on 30th May 2024. If shortlisted, prior to interview, an application to Lincoln University must be submitted and screening of documents will be completed.
