Job summary
The Post will be responsible for the financial business support for 1 Aviation Brigade Combat Team (1 AVN BCT) based in Middle Wallop, HQ 1 Regiment Army Air Corp (1 Regt AAC) and Commando Helicopter Force (CHF) both based at RNAS Yeovilton - where the post is currently based (CHF HQ).
This Finance Assistant role is a pivotal part of a busy upbeat team dealing with both 1 AVN BCT units and CHF. We are offering an exciting opportunity to witness and assist in helicopter Operations and Training.
Supporting the military to ensure financial policy has been adhered to and guidance given where necessary. We are looking for an individual to join our thriving community; a supportive team in what can be fast paced conditions to achieve deadlines and support operational delivery.
Providing imperative support to Electronic Purchasing Cards (ePCs, company credit cards), Contract, Purchasing and Finance (CP&F) purchasing, providing advice on products, costs and availability. Supporting SO3 Finance & Resources in processing and scrutinising F17s; these are finance-based business cases submitted from many avenues for a wide range of Materials and Services.
The role provides financial support to the Deputy Resource Adviser (DRA) and acts as deputy Electronic Purchasing Card (ePC) Manager, auditing monthly spends, in line withcurrent policy with (IAW -In accordance with) JSP 332 while providing advice, support and guidance.
This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.
Job description
Process ePC applications for new card holders within policy and guidance of JSP 332 complete audits of monthly spend, raising any discrepancies to the DRA as ePC Manager.
Arrange ePC Fuel payments with relevant units ensuring invoices are verified by the operations (Ops) teams and through the NSPA existing fuel contract.
Check monthly ePC spend on behalf of the DRA, feeding the results to SO3 finance as miscellaneous bookings to the correct RAC codes.
CP&F first point of contact for units when processing financial requests. Give guidance on products, costs, availability, and contracted routes to market. Liaise with the DRA to upload approved orders, processing CP&F invoices as requested. Liaise with companies under CP&F contracts to co-ordinate delivery of items and receipt when received.
Upload F17 business request to the relevant share point area and update the CHF/1AVNX Finance tracker as required by DRA, saving documents to records once approval is complete.
Responsible for financial delegation of 5000 for ePC or low value purchases.ePC Deputy Manager, liaising with personnel to complete the card application process, ensuring their justification to hold a card IAW JSP332.
Complete monthly ePC Audits of ePC spend, ensuring all the spend IAW JSP 332 Policy. Upload CP&F invoice payments and order items as approved and directed by the DRA.
Keep the limited ePC SharePoint areas up to date and move documents to file on a weekly basis.
Person specification
The Commando Helicopter Force (CHF) is a highly mobile and rapidly deploying Royal Navy unit! It forms part of the Armys Joint Helicopter Command (JHC), which operates in the Joint environment.
It delivers Battlefield Helicopters and Aviation Combat Service Support that are operationally capable under all environmental conditions, to meet designated military tasks, primarily in support of the UK Commando Forces. CHF is based at RNAS Yeovilton which is an operational Naval Air Station located in Somerset. It is an opportunity to begin a career within a critical part of the Finance profession, a chance to be part of a driven efficient team with many training opportunities available to the successful applicant. This is a customer service-based role requiring face to face, email, Skype, and Teams communication. We champion a working environment with opportunities to work from home when suitable to business needs and line management agreement (on completion of probation if required).
Competent in computer skills would be beneficial to this role, but all training can be given CP&F and ePC Trg included.
Essential skills are:
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office Applications
  • MOD Finance skills certificate or to be obtained within 6 months.

Desirable skills are:
Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Planner and Problem Solving.
You should be confident and comfortable in interacting with staff of all ranks.
The ability to work independently for short periods of time is important and be able to adapt to a fast paced and quick changing environment.
