OVERVIEW: ASBESTOS TECHNICAL LEAD

We are seeking an experienced Technical Lead WITH experience in the Asbestos Removal industry (Licensed and Non-Licensed) to work within our Asbestos Control Department.

Working alongside the Membership Officer you will manage the membership, carrying out a number of membership site audits, managing non-conformance issues and the development of corrective and preventative actions.

Experience directly within the asbestos sector is desirable however, applicants who have risk assessment experience and qualifications in other specialisms such as fire, water or general risk assessment are welcome to apply.

The role will be predominantly home based with some travel/field-based activities required.

MAIN DUTIES:ASBESTOS TECHNICAL LEAD

• Liaise with and be the main point of contact between the HSE and the membership, keeping up to date with all policy and legislative changes
• Deliver online and face to face training in a full range of Asbestos related courses and refresher courses.
• Liaise regularly with external sub-contractors, who undertake training and site audits on behalf of the membership to ensure a high-quality service is being provided.
• Arrange and facilitate standardisation meetings for internal and external staff for audits and training.
• Support the Head of Learning to ensure training materials and resources are kept up to date in line with HSE guidance
• Work alongside Technical Director ensuring members are provided with the latest HSE information
• Attend regional and national meetings, site audits and some face-to-face training events across the UK
• Attend external industry technical meetings and conferences

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE: ASBESTOS TECHNICAL LEAD

• Minimum of 5 years relevant experience, preferably working within the hazardous waste sector
• A degree or equivalent in a relevant science discipline.
• A teaching and/or assessing qualification at Level 3 or above (desirable*)
• Relevant industry competence qualification(s) i.e. BOHS P402 (or equivalent) and BOHS P403 and P404 (or equivalent) or S301 (W504) with CoCA
• Excellent working knowledge of asbestos surveying and regulations
• Proven technical understanding and practical application of asbestos compliance regulations and guidance
• Excellent report writing, IT and communication skills both written and oral
• Full driving licence
