Job description

We are looking for a SEN Administrative Officer to provide comprehensive administrative support to the Special Educational Needs Assessment and Review Team (SENART). The role involves managing an electronic document management system and ensuring a solid foundation of specialist administrative support for the Special Educational Needs statutory processes.

Day to Day of the role:
  • Implementing statutory assessment and review procedures under the Education Act and Children and Families Act.
  • Creating and updating electronic learner files, ensuring accuracy and compliance with data protection.
  • Processing Annual Review Paperwork and arranging meetings as part of the statutory process.
  • Being the first point of telephone contact, providing initial advice and guidance, and escalating enquiries as necessary.
  • Supporting the implementation and outcomes of the weekly EHC Panel, including minute-taking and record maintenance.
  • Scanning and indexing statutory and legal documentation, ensuring secure and confidential handling of sensitive information.
  • Providing general assistance to SENART, including post-in and post-out duties, copying, filing, and visitor reception.
  • Administrative support for Team Manager and SEN/Casework Officers as required.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • ECDL or equivalent ICT qualification, or relevant experience in the use of ICT, including Word, Excel, databases, and electronic file creation.
  • Awareness of LA safeguarding policies and procedures
  • In-depth knowledge of SEN legislation and provision
  • Thorough knowledge of Data Protection and working in a confidential environment.
  • Experience in an administrative/office environment undertaking a variety of tasks.
  • Excellent organisational, time management, and communication skills.
