The Electricity Transmission Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system is critical to the safe, secure, and economic operation of the England and Wales electricity transmission system.
As Asset Data Engineer you’ll have a responsibility for maintaining the NGET SCADA system, which will involve analysis of data and interfaces to other systems. Your primary duties will include database management, network modelling, display build and implementation of system changes.
You’ll support the delivery of both major and minor projects, assisting in the specification, development and testing of new and changing customer requirements.
Summary of Key Accountabilities
- SCADA Database management to ensure site based Remote Terminal Units and SCADA system are aligned.
- Create, update, and commit database, network model, display and scripting changes in conjunction with key stakeholders.
- Support the resolution of real time database, network model and display issues, to ensure that the SCADA system is operational, with state estimation and analysis tools producing reliable results.
- Maintain the real-time Calculations.
- Facilitate and manage Emulation of telemetry for system testing in conjunction with NGET Operations and 3rd parties.
- Process data validity checks and co-ordination of change activity with external parties.
What you'll need
Experience of:
- Database management and maintenance
- Data validation and reconciliation
- SQL (Ideally MS SQL)
- API manipulation using Python
- XML and JSON data structure handling and manipulation
With a STEM Qualification at A level, BTEC or a recognised Level 2 equivalent, you’ll ideally have an understanding of electrical power systems and SCADA, however full training will be given.
