Responsibilities in your new role
The responsibilities as the Assistant Accountant encompass the timely production of monthly management accounts for various businesses, utilising SAP. You will be compiling subsidiary company accounts for the UK and Ireland, ensuring the data's integrity and completeness before submission to the group head office. Additionally, responsibilities include reconciling management accounts to the general ledger, overseeing accruals and prepayments, managing accounts payable and receivable functions, and implementing provisions for bad debts. The role extends to cost accounting, stock control, stock provisions, and overseeing company insurances, payroll, pension, and related matters.
Your personality, experience and qualifications
To qualify for this position, it is essential to be a part-qualified accountant with a background in manufacturing businesses being preferable. The role requires a commitment to meeting deadlines and a proactive approach to delivering accurate and robust financial data that aligns with business requirements. Candidates should possess relevant experience in core accounting tasks and principles, gained from a similar role, showcasing strong problem-solving abilities and the capability to analyse and interpret data to resolve accounting issues. Attention to detail in key balance sheet account reconciliations is crucial, and individuals should demonstrate enthusiasm, diligence, quick learning, and a drive to consistently produce work of excellent quality. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel-based accounting spreadsheets, is a must, and familiarity with the SAP system and strong financial systems experience are highly valued.
