The right candidate will be joining an established finance team of 8 in total where you will report into the Group Financial Controller.
The Role
With the growth expected across the group and increased workload expected in 2024, along with an internal promotion. This Finance department is looking for an Assistant Accountant with varied skill sets. This role will be working on various group companies and will be a hands on role. This will be a highly visible role within the group and has clear progression pathways in the future.
Responsibilities
- Bank postings and reconciliations on a weekly basis on the current accounts on Sage.
- Purchase ledger postings for invoices & reconciling the ledger at month end, this includes balancing to supplier statements received.
- Generation of payment proposals on Sage bi-monthly
- Manual sales invoicing as required. Ensure the sales generated for the month are billed and completed in a timely manner and balance the ledger at the end of each month.
- Generation of reporting and balancing for our Invoice Discounting process on a weekly basis.
- Reconcile sub-contraction postings on our haulage system at the end of each month.
- Bring reporting to a TB stage at the end of each month ready for review with by the Group FC.
- Journal processing and reconciliation of key nominal accounts on a monthly basis.
- Help and support during company audits and year ends reporting.
- Maintaining and updating the fixed asset register.
- Payroll experience would be an advantage.
Skills & Experience
- Previous experience within a similar role
- Ideally a part qualified accountant - eager to progress through CIMA or ACCA
- Experience with Sage 200
- Proven skill set within Excel and able to work with Pivot Tables and large amounts of data
- Strong attention to detail
