The role is office-based, 5 days a week in St Albans (on-site parking).
Role Overview: As an Assistant Accountant you will play a pivotal role in the finance team, working closely with both management and the transactional finance team. This is a diverse position covering transactional finance, credit control, VAT returns, and basic management accounts. You will have the opportunity to work closely with our finance professionals and contribute to the overall success of the company.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manage transactional finance processes, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
* Accounts Payable registering invoices, statements reconciliations and payments.
* Conduct credit control activities to maintain healthy cash flow.
* Prepare and submit VAT returns in compliance with regulations.
* Assist in the preparation of basic management accounts.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support financial processes.
Requirements:
* Proven experience in transactional finance including Accounts Payable, Receivable and banking.
* Working with the team to keep on top of Credit Control, by email and telephone.
* Familiarity with VAT regulations and experience in preparing VAT returns.
* Basic knowledge of management accounts.
* Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
* Proficiency in relevant finance software and Microsoft Excel.
