The Convenience Commercial team within M&S Channels would like to recruit an Assistant Analyst to help drive the commercial agenda.
You'll be accountable for managing the day-to-day set-up and administration of pricing and promotions with the partners, as well as collating and analysing data and making recommendations on product/category performance, New Product Development, price premiums, promotional activity, and product/category performance. You will own reporting and analysis of key events and promotions, including analysing past performance and recommending future buys to drive Profit & Loss improvement and partner efficiencies.
Partnering closely with colleagues across Commercial, Supply Chain, Finance and our main mission categories will be key. Our commercial team play a fundamental role in setting the pace for our key business decisions, shaping our budgets, analysing our sales, managing costs, and making sure our most vital statistics and data are absolutely accurate.

What youll do
- Co-ordinate the critical path for promotional set-up, working closely with the Commercial managers and our central Pricing & Promotions team
- Support the commercial team with store communications on price and promotional activity
- Support partners with non-aligned systems with compliant price and promotional data
- Data Analysis and Reporting: Collect, analyse, and report data to track progress, performance, and adherence to established benchmarks and KPIs. Driving increased insight to make recommendations to deliver business benefit
- Generate comprehensive reports and visualisations to communicate trends and potential risks effectively
- Drilling down on large data sets to identify what is going on! Preparation of reports, providing accurate data for analysis and commentary, working closely with finance/commercial/supply chain colleagues and the categories to support strategic decision making
Who you are
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to collect and interpret data sets. Using data and analysis to solve problems
- Strong MS Office skills, particularly Excel
- Strong commercial awareness to identify any risks / opportunities to the business and make relevant recommendations to resolve
- Detail-oriented with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of effectively collaborating with cross-functional teams and stakeholders
