About the team
We are looking to appoint an Assistant Director of Finance to provide financial support and advice as part of a comprehensive finance service for the Housing Directorate. The area you will support will include the Housing Revenue Accountant (HRA) along with homelessness and other general fund areas of Housing. These are very challenging times for Housing services in local government that require a skilled financial professional to ensure that effective financial strategies are put in place.
About the Role Ahead of a period of significant change across local government, you will support the transformation required to enable Lambeth Council to continue to deliver ambitious objectives and high-quality essential services for the borough and its residents. Leading a high-performing team finance professionals, your prime accountabilities will include:- Overall responsibility for all aspects of financial planning, the production of management and statutory accounts, and all reporting and statistical returns – including collating and reporting your services budget monitor to Management Board and Cabinet and overseeing the production of the council’s annual accounts, personally managing relationships with key stakeholders.
- Help the council meet its savings target and contain rising spend in housing.
- Actively ensuring that all financial and service transformation strategies are consistent with the council’s longer term political and service aspirations.
- Working with directors and colleagues across the council to consistently enhance financial competence and enable budget holders to effectively manage their own finances and forecasting, and advising directors on budgetary positions.
