Responsibilities as an Assistant Financial Accountant
Bookkeeping Tasks:

• Importing data (invoices, journals, other transactions) into the accounting system, Xero.
• Recording and filing cash transactions, completing daily and monthly bank reconciliations.
• Processing expense requests and payroll, ready for approval.
• Handling direct debit collections.
• Ensuring all payments, amounts, and records are accurate, then collating and setting up bank payments for approval and processing.

Additional Responsibilities:

• Assisting sales and purchase ledger staff as needed, including holiday cover.
• Liaising with third-party providers, clients, and suppliers.
• Completing VAT Returns.
• Updating and maintaining procedural documentation.

Experience / Skills

• Proven experience as an Accounting Assistant using accounting software (e.g., Xero, Sage, QuickBooks, or similar).
• Familiarity with finance regulations, including UK GAAP (FRS 102).
• Understanding of lease transactions (advantageous).
• Strong knowledge of basic bookkeeping procedures (e.g., cost accruals and prepayments, deferred and accrued income).
• Competent IT skills, especially proficiency in Excel.
• Strong mathematical and dynamic critical thinking abilities.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Strong commercial acumen.
• Trustworthy and discreet in handling confidential information.
