Would you like to work in a busy Finance office supporting a world leading Research & Development department at Cambridge University Hospitals?
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, organised and motivated individual to join the Finance Team at CUH. Reporting to the Senior Management Accountant you will be providing financial reporting and transactional support to them as well as looking after your own range of R&D cost centres.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include monitoring the financial performance of a range of cost Centres liaising with budget holders, and managing relationships with a number of stakeholders within the Trust’s R&D community.
This post is a challenging and creative role where the ability to communicate well with colleagues across the Trust is important. A flexible approach and a can-do attitude are crucial. The successful candidate will be self-motivated, able to prioritise their own work and to work to deadlines. You will have experience using Microsoft packages (i.e. Outlook, Excel word etc.) with proven ability to analyse complex data and transform it into meaningful reports.
You will demonstrate confidence, analytical ability, and a flexible approach to the demands of the job.
Main duties of the job
The key focus of this post will be the production of budget reports from the ledger, investigation of variances and implementing any adjustments required to income & expenditure forecasts and budgets. Any changes required to budgets, covering both staff and expenditure, will be made by the Divisional Management Accountant. Data defects and any core process changes will be expected to be driven and managed by this role.
The Assistant Management Accountant will hold regular reviews with their peers and specialist colleagues to support intelligence gathering and resolving queries. This will include the provision of information, analysis & support in interpreting their reports and collation of information to assist in the development of robust forecasts.
The key skills required are those for interpreting, processing and analysing data using Microsoft Office, interrogating all the various sub-systems of the ledger and requires a proven working knowledge of the accounting principles involved. This successful person must hold an excellent and proven working knowledge of Excel.
The assistant Management Accountant is expected to take an active interest in the development of his/her skills, experience and career.
You must be able to work on their own initiative and be able to manage their own priorities as set by the Management of their area.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
Educated to A level or NVQ level 3.
Desirable criteria
ECDL qualification or equivalent experience- able to set up spreadsheets and documents.
Educated to Degree level.
Experience

MS Office – preparing reports in Word, and using Excel for data – being able to use different formulae.
