As an Assistant Management Accountant at Toolstation, your primary role will be to support the Management Accountant in the production of timely and accurate management reporting information. Drawing on your expertise in accounting and reporting, you will implement financial accounting processes and reporting systems that align with our business's growth objectives. Furthermore, you will work collaboratively with the business partnering function to provide valuable financial analysis and support during budgeting and forecasting activities.
Day to Day
Monthly Management Accounts: Collaborate with the Management Accountant to prepare monthly management accounts within agreed timescales. This includes conducting balance sheet reconciliations and providing comprehensive variance commentary.
Financial Reporting: Ensure the delivery of accurate and timely financial reports, helping to provide a clear understanding of our financial performance.
Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the annual budgeting and forecasting process, providing valuable insights to support decision-making.
Year-End Audit: Support the year-end audit process by preparing necessary documentation and assisting auditors as required.
Process Improvement: Challenge existing processes and recommend improvements across all aspects of reporting and analysis.
Team Collaboration: Actively engage as a team member, seeking out new opportunities within your role's remit and assisting colleagues across various finance functions.
Month-End Tasks: Contribute to month-end tasks, including accruals and prepayments, bad debt provision, sales postings, and related reconciliations.
Variance Investigation: Investigate and reconcile any variances between management accounts and internal reporting systems, particularly with respect to sales and purchases.
