Are you a care experienced young person aged over 21 and no longer receiving support from the Transition and Leaving Care Team?
Do you have passion for supporting other care experienced young people to thrive and make a success of their transition to adulthood?
Would you like to be part of a passionate team within the Transition and Leaving Care (TLC) Service at Walsall Council?
If the answer is yes, join us as we seek a dedicated individual to join our team. The role of the assistant PA is a unique one, it has its challenges but is extremely rewarding and will support your learning and development around working in supportive roles with care leavers.
About the role:
Please note - this is a role which is ringfenced for a care experienced person. You will need to confirm that you hold care leaver status when applying for the role.
The role of the assistant PA is to support the wider TLC team and young people leaving care as they transition into adulthood. You will provide guidance and practical support, ensuring that they are aware of their rights and entitlements as a care leaver and supporting the allocated PA to carry out their role. This is a crucial time for our young people and it is essential you work collaboratively with partner agencies to ensure their needs are met.
You will:
  • Support Personal Advisors in managing their allocated young people, engaging in direct support and advocacy for the young people that we support.
  • Manage a small case load of young people with support from your assistant Team Manager, these will primarily be young people aged 21-25 and Qualifying Young People who need a little extra support from us.
  • Support with participation, event planning and social activities for our young people, giving them more opportunity to come together and form strong bonds - fostering interdependence and positive relationships.
  • Our priorities are to help our young people access opportunities for education and employment & safe, secure accommodation; you will play a leading role in making sure they get high quality support from us as corporate parents.
  • Youwill passionately respect and honour their identity; believe in and listen to them, inform and support them and overall be a “Champion” for them.
    Why work for us?

As an employer, we provide an attractive employment package that includes:
  • A generous annual leave entitlement offering (for this role) a minimum 26 days leave per year plus 9 concessionary days and in addition to a flexible working scheme that allows up to a further 12 days leave per year
  • Access to an award winning pension scheme
  • Recent development of the working environment which has created a modern professional space in which to work with improved technology that allows agile working
  • Promotion of training and development opportunities to all our employees to help them progress and gain new skills
  • A genuine commitment to equality of opportunity for our staff and customers - we aim to employ a representative workforce that reflects the communities we serve

We advertise vacancies because we want the best talent available. If that's you, we're waiting for your application.
