Assistant Producer - Virgin Radio

Location: London

Contract: 12 Month FTC

Broadcasting from the top of the News UK Building in London Bridge, Virgin Radio UK is the home of The Chris Evans Breakfast Show, The Graham Norton Radio Show and the Ricky Wilson Drive time show.

Virgin Radio UK is the home of Chris Evans at breakfast and Graham Norton at the weekends. Chris Evans returned to his spiritual home to present the breakfast show in 2019 with Graham Norton joining in 2021. Other stations in the network include Virgin Radio Anthems, playing Classic Tracks; Virgin Radio Chilled, with music to kick back to; Virgin Radio 80s Plus playing the best 80s music and the summer pop-up station, Virgin Radio Pride for the LGBTQI+ community.

Your role: As the Assistant Producer - reporting to the Executive Producer, you will take phone calls for phone-ins and competitions, generate ideas, compile features, write scripts and assist during live broadcasting. 

Day to day you will:

  • Collaborate with the production team to develop engaging and entertaining radio content.

  • Assist in the planning, scripting, and execution of on-air segments, interviews, and promotions.

  • Coordinate with on-air talent to ensure smooth show transitions and optimal performance.

  • Monitor and manage on-air elements, including music, sound bites, and commercials.

  • Assist in identifying and securing relevant and compelling guests for interviews.

  • Coordinate logistics for guest appearances, including scheduling, pre-interview preparation, and on-site support.

  • Provide support in the production of pre-recorded content, advertisements, and station imaging.

  • Edit and assemble audio content using industry-standard software.

  • Contribute to the station's online presence by creating engaging social media content.

  • Monitor and engage with the audience on various online platforms.

  • Handle administrative duties, including scheduling, organising meetings, and managing communication within the production team.

What we’re looking for from you: 

  • Previous experience in radio production or a related media role is preferred.

  • Proficiency in audio editing software (e.g., Adobe Audition, Pro Tools).

  • Confident in using appropriate software: Zetta, G-Selector, PhoneBox, Audition

  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.

  • Familiar with the range of the Virgin Radio’s output.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines.

  • Creative mindset and a passion for the radio industry.

  • Familiarity with current music trends and pop culture.
