Job description

The School of Polymer Science and Polymer Engineering (SPSPE) at The University of Akron seeks to fill a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor rank beginning in August 2024. The ideal candidate would develop an internationally recognized research program in Polymer Engineering. Examples of specific areas of interest include but are not limited to, polymer physics, polymer processing, advanced manufacturing, polymer composites, sustainability, and in-situ characterization during manufacturing.

Applicants should have:

1) A PhD degree, preferably in engineering (polymer, chemical, mechanical, chemistry, or closely related discipline).

2) A record of research accomplishment as demonstrated by peer-reviewed publications and/or patents.

3) Ability to teach and mentor graduate and undergraduate students.

Post-doctoral and/or industrial experience is preferred. The successful applicant will be expected to build an externally funded research program in sustainable manufacturing, contribute to the functioning of the undergraduate degrees offered by the school.

Compensation: The compensation for this position is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
