We are seeking an experiencedAssistant Quantity Surveyor to join our team. In this role, you will take charge of assessing and invoicing work for our clients, requiring knowledge in using Schedule of Rates, be it NHF or bespoke schedules. The key focus is on converting works from Work in Progress (WIP) to invoices promptly, with a strategic approach to maximising value and margins on assigned contracts.

Main Objectives of the Assistant Quantity Surveyor role:
- assess and value work: value work for assigned contracts, ensuring margins align with agreed targets and comply with client specifications
- documentation and invoicing: produce applications, invoices and final accounts in a timely and accurate manner, resolving disputes when necessary
- client interaction: liaise with clients, both internal and external, regarding your contract to address queries and handle variations
- commercial reporting: take responsibility for commercial reporting on assigned contracts, including forecasting and Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs), where applicable
- reporting and documentation: produce and present all required reports and documents as requested, ensuring comprehensive and effective communication
- cost control: apply cost control procedures effectively to contribute to the financial success of the projects
- support the management team: provide commercial details and information to support the Divisional and Contract Manager as required
- WIP review meetings: actively participate in monthly Works in Progress (WIP) review meetings
Do you have what it takes?
- demonstrated experience with a main contractor, working in a commercial role on response and planned maintenance contracts in the social housing sector
- knowledge and understanding of measurement and valuation, including the use of Schedules of Rates
- strong commercial skills to maximise value recovery and control costs
- excellent communication and time management skills
- strong IT skills, including internal cost systems and advanced proficiency in Excel
- experience in managing and improving internal and external customer relationships, with conflict-resolution skills
- ability to work effectively under pressure
- strong organisational skills with meticulous attention to detail, proactive and positive, with a 'can-do' attitude
