About the Role
Lincolnshire County Council always seeks to take a proactive and positive approach to coordinating and inspecting works on the highway. Our commitment is to ensure the efficient use of the highway network within Lincolnshire for the benefit of the community, the economy and the 'Place' of Lincolnshire as an excellent area to live, work and visit.
We are currently looking for an individual who can ensure the efficient use of the Lincolnshire Highway Network in the south area of Lincolnshire by coordinating, inspecting and enforcing works on the highway.
The role involves:
· Administrative support to Street Works Officers in the team.
· Data entry of information into our IT systems.
· Assisting with the coordination of highway works under the Lincolnshire Permit Scheme.
· Inspection of highway sites to ensure compliance with NRSWA legislation and the Permit Scheme.
· Customer liaison with our internal engineering teams and external utilities.
This is a full-time, entry-level position in the Street Works and Permitting Team Based in Boston - Pode Hole, within the Highways department. We are committed to your success and growth within the LCC, and to support you in your new role, comprehensive training will be provided. This training will equip you with the knowledge and skills you need to excel.
About the team
The successful candidate will work within a six person team who have responsibility for managing works on the highway throughout South Holland and Boston.The South Street Works and Permitting team is led by our Network Manager (South) and includes three Street Works and Permitting Officers and two Assistant Street Works and Permitting Officers.
About You
It is essential that you hold a BTEC or A levels or a NRSWA Supervisors qualifications OR have a demonstrable level of knowledge and skill suitable for the role. Candidates with relevant experience, a professional work ethic and good interpersonal skills will also be considered. Familiarity with the use of Microsoft Office and the use of other Information Technology is essential.
You will be able to communicate with stakeholders effectively and to build collaborative relationships to work towards the corporate vision of achieving more than we can on our own.
The role involves a considerable amount of lone working on the highway network, so you'll need to be self-motivated and disciplined, but don't worry—we stay in regular contact as a team to support each other. The office aspects of the role can be carried out with a mixture of hybrid and office working.
As you will be mobile across the county, a full driving license and access to a vehicle for work purposes is essential for this role.
Above all else you need to have a positive "can do" attitude and be passionate about ensuring the Lincolnshire Highways Network delivers for the residents and road users of the county.
