SShakespeare’s Globe is looking for a Assistant Visitor Operation Manager
to join our VAO Operations team
We are committed to improving diversity and inclusion across our organisation. Don’t meet every single requirement? Studies have shown that women and the Global Majority are less likely to apply for jobs unless they meet every single specification. If you’re excited about the role but your experience or qualifications don’t perfectly align, we encourage you to apply anyway. We particularly encourage applications from underrepresented groups such as the global majority, LGBTQA+, those with a disability and neurodiverse conditions.
The role:
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as an Assistant Visitor Operations Manager. In this role, you will act as a site Duty Manager and assist in the day-to-day management of all visitor experience areas across the SShakespeares Globe Campus. From managing live performances to overseeing the Globe Story and Tour you'll have the opportunity to make a significant impact on the overall visitor experience.
- Assist in the day-to-day management of all visitor experience areas, ensuring world-class service delivery.
- Directly manage Visitor Operations Supervisors, Visitor Operations Assistants and Tour Guides to uphold high standards of service and professionalism.
- Create a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for all visitors, in accordance with current Health and Safety guidelines.
- Collaborate closely with departments across the organisation to ensure seamless delivery of all Globe activities and events.
- Support the Retail function and wider Globe activities as needed.
- Provide Duty Management for the site, overseeing operations during scheduled shifts.
This role is offered on a full-time basis of 35 hours per week exclusive of meal breaks, worked across 7 days per week on a rota pattern. Due to the nature of the role it must be worked onsite on London’s Bankside and will include regular evening, late night and weekend working.
The skills:
The successful candidates will be experienced customer-facing managers who have led operational management of fast-paced teams in a similar environment. They will be effective and commercially-focused managers, able to engage and motivate teams whilst also seeking out income-generating and cost-saving opportunities. The right people for this role will have effective communication, interpersonal and computer skills (MS Office), and be able to show flexibility, confidence and resilience when dealing with unexpected changes, including operational issues. As an organisation, the Globe is committed to the principles of equality, diversity and anti-racism and implementing them throughout our work, so we ask all colleagues to have a personal commitment to this too.
The team:
The Visitor and Audience Operations department is made up of a large operational team encompassing the management and delivery of the tours, performance and event operations, and is responsible for a large volunteer team. It also supports the Retail function and wider Globe activities and provides Duty Management for the site. The team collaborate closely with other departments to bring the highest standards of audience experience in the delivery of all the Globe’s work.
