What is the opportunity?
Associate Director in the Group Risk Management Wholesale Credit Risk team in London, focusing on corporates.
What will you do?
- Responsible for the management and oversight of Credit Risk related to an assigned portfolio of around 40-45 European focused corporate and leveraged finance loan and derivatives clients.
- The clients are active in a broad range of industries, including transportation, utilities, telecommunications, project specific infrastructure, services, healthcare, consumer/retail and general industrial.
- The role includes:
- The risk assessment of portfolio counterparties;
- Assigning an indicative Borrower Risk Rating at origination and adjudicating subsequent Borrower Risk Rating reviews;
- Reviewing new loan originations and monitoring of existing portfolio
- Approving (within delegated authorities) or recommending new or additional Credit Risk exposure (lending and trading credit) to those entities
- Work in partnership with the front office and other teams within GRM-Credit so that risks are proactively managed and decisions are consistent with the overall risk appetite of RBC.
- Provide support for the growth of RBC Capital Markets business in the UK, Continental Europe and Australia;
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have
- Ability to assess complex loan structures, including financial statement and credit analysis, and loan / ISDA documentation
- Ability to assess business risk, supported by company reporting, financial, commercial and technical due diligence.
- Familiar with, and ability to review excel based financial forecast models.
- Work collaboratively with the front office teams (Leverage Finance, Corporate Banking and Derivatives) to keep credit exposure within RBC risk appetite.
- High level of drive and motivation to manage multiple credit requests concurrently during busy times.
- Able to priortise and produce written communications to tight client deadlines.
Nice-to-have
- Previous experience in corporate loan origination or at a rating agency.
- Accounting or CFA qualification.
