THE COMPANY
Kenton Black are delighted to be working with an established and growing 10 partner firm, largely grown from the training programme in the firm and working across their two main offices, Goole and York.
They currently employ circa 50-60 staff across the two offices and the firm has been around for the last 125 years.
The firms offering is broad, encompassing audit, accounts, tax and payroll and their client coverage is also broad with a dental specialism out of the York office and Goole having a large agricultural base.
Their clients are typically SME, owner managed businesses with turnovers up to £50m. Lots of family run businesses where the firm operates a holistic approach across all areas (audit, accounts, tax, payroll).

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The work primarily involves the delivery of a wide range of timely, high quality accounts, audit and tax compliance assignments for clients ranging from sole traders to companies with turnovers of up to £120million.
Whilst the focus is on compliance, there are also many opportunities to significantly expand the range and breadth of experience through direct engagement with clients, attending meetings, ad hoc projects and working as part of a team to deliver a proactive service. No two days are the same. Participation in networking events will also assist in building on your business developer skills.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
-The firm generally operates 5 days in the office, however, you are happy to consider hybrid working for suitable candidates
-Previous experience of working within a mid-tier firm would be ideal
-Candidates will need to undertake audits/visit clients across the Goole/York areas
-Part-time roles also considered
-Good academic history
-Accounts, personal and corporation tax experience gained in an accounting practice. Audit experience would be beneficial for the roles in the corporate department, but training can be provided as required.
-Experience of applying the requirements of FRS 102
-Sound IT skills including Excel, Word and Outlook
-Experience of mainstream accountancy packages, such as Sage, and cloud accounting systems such as Xero and Quickbooks
-Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
-Good attention to detail
-Experience of supervising and reviewing the work of junior staff
-Excellent ‘soft’ skills including written and spoken communications
-Self-starter with good organisational skills
-Ability to work with people at all levels
-Clean driving license and use of own vehicle
