Automotive Technician

Auto Technician / Mechanic. Caribbean. Turks and Caicos Islands.
Tax free salary £61,500 - £66,200 annually (Paid in US$6,500-$7,000 per month)

Thatcher Associates is a UK based recruitment company. We are working in partnership TC Defenders, a well respected and growing Auto repair and maintenance company based in Provicenciales in the Turks and Caios Islands, a British overseas territory in the Caribbean.
TC Defenders caters for all vehicle makes and models — but has a specialization in the repair, maintenance and custom upgrade of Land Rover Defenders. Experience with Land Rovers is desirable but not essential. 

About the role.
As a technician you will be responsible for delivering a high standard of service to customers and for building a strong customer relationships.
This is be a hands-on technical role within a close-knit team, therefore team working skills are essential.
Responsibilities.
Delivering excellent results whilst maintaining high productivity.
Working with the team to provide a high standard of communication and problem solving.
A strong Customer Focus.
Mechanical, Hydraulic, Electrical and Diagnostic Work.
Full understanding of Vehicle Air Conditioning Systems.
Preparing professional and technical written reports for customers and service advisors.
Requirements.
NVQ Level 3 and minimum 4 years’ experience after qualified.
Knowledge and experience of using diagnostic scan tools and reading wiring schematics.
MET Qualification preferred but not essential.
Experience of welding & body panels helpful.
Knowledge of Methods, Techniques, Parts, Tools & Materials used in the Maintenance and Repair of Vehicles.
Experience in Testing, Diagnostics, HVAC service, Hydraulic, Brakes, Testing and Repair of Electronic Systems and Modules.
Pay and employment terms.
Pay is tax free in USD Dollars, between $6,500 and $7,000 per month.
(To "take home" this salary in the UK after tax you would need to earn £95,000)
Initial and repatriation flights will also be provided by TC Defenders.
Accommodation will need to be paid for locally by the employee (help with rental deposit provided by TC Defenders).
Work permits are paid for by the TC Defenders.
Employment contract granted for 1 year in line with work permit (ongoing renewal of work permit and contract annually).
Holiday is 21 days plus local bank holidays.
Working week is five days plus a Saturday morning. Overtime is available.
Deductions for National Health is 3% and National Insurance is 5%.
Status.
The role is best suited to a single person. Schooling is not available and unmarried partners can only visit as tourists on a 3 month tourist visa.
Work permit.
To complete the work permit process, the successful candidate must undergo a medical, be vaccinated, and have a clear Police record. The process of medical and the UK police check can take 6 weeks in the UK. Then, the local work permit application can take up to 6-8 weeks.
About the Turks and Caicos Islands.
The Turks and Caicos Islands lie 600 miles south of Miami. The climate is warm to hot, generally around 27 to 30 Celcius (like a hot summer day in the UK). The beaches are spectacular and the ocean, beach and lifestyle are the main attractions. There are a range of bars, restaurants, and supermarkets. The economy is geared around tourism, with many visitors from the USA.
Budget.
The cost of living is higher than the UK (think London prices):
Rent. US$1,600 for a 1 bed apartment, and $2,200 for a 2 bed. (TC Defenders would assist with a rental deposit).
Food. $600 per month.
Bills. $700 Power, water, internet per month.
Private medical. $250 per month.
