12 Months Secondment Cover - Band 7 Clinical Nurse Specialist in Palliative Care(Hospital)
The Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust is offering an exciting opportunity for an experienced nurse to join our hospital Palliative Care team based at the Royal Free Hospital site.
We are looking for a dynamic, highly motivated and enthusiastic nurse with a genuine interest in Palliative Care, along with a commitment to continuous learning, teamwork and mutual support.

The CNS contributes to the provision of specialist Palliative Care in the acute hospital setting for patients facing life-limiting illnesses (within the remit of the multi- disciplinary team) accepting patient referrals to agreed criteria and managing their own caseload with the support of the Lead Nurse and Consultant Nurse.
They will provide advice, education and support to patients, their carers and other health and social care professionals. They will contribute to the development and smooth running of the service.
The post holder will work to agreed professional, departmental and Trust boundaries as required to provide patient centred seamless care and will take part in the 7 day / week service to hospital patients and North Camden community patients.
This post is 9am-5pm, 22.5 hours per week (preference is Wed - Fri for service delivery however this is negotiable) , including weekends and bank holidays.
This is an exciting time to work in Palliative Care in the North Central London area. We have a strong team and pride ourselves on collaborative working between the acute, community and hospice providers.
We will provide a supportive environment in which to develop your skills as an advance nurse practitioner. Enquiries are welcome from nurses with experience in managing patients with chronic life threatening conditions and supporting them and those that are important to them.
You should be creative, enthusiastic and motivated with:
- Broad and extensive experience of working with acutely unwell patients and terminally ill adults post registration.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- The ability to work autonomously and as a team member.
- Hold a first degree and post registration qualifications in oncology, Palliative Care or other appropriate medical speciality.
-Demonstrate significant teaching experience.

The post holder will be expected:
• To manage a caseload and provide an expert and autonomous nursing
service for patients with life limiting illness and potentially facing end of life care issues, and support them and their families, using advance
clinical judgement and knowledge in Palliative Care.
• To lead and innovate nursing practice in Palliative Care on the Royal Free Hospital site
• To take part in a 7 day / week face to face clinical nurse specialist –
specialist Palliative Care service.
• To contribute to the weekly specialist Palliative Care MDT
• To design and deliver specialist Palliative Care education; and deliver end of life education.
• To support and mentor students in the team.
• To take part in the regular Palliative Care team programme of audit and review of clinical practice.
• To develop research skills and contribute to the development of multi-disciplinary research within Palliative Care.
