We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join a National construction.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing accounts payable and receivable, and ensuring compliance with relevant financial regulations. This role requires strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
Financial Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records for the construction company, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger entries.
Accounts Payable Management: Process vendor invoices, verify accuracy, and ensure timely payment. Reconcile vendor statements and resolve any discrepancies or issues.
Accounts Receivable Management: Generate and send customer invoices, track payments, and follow up on overdue accounts. Reconcile customer accounts and resolve billing discrepancies as needed.
Payroll Processing: Assist with payroll processing, including calculating hours, deductions, and taxes. Ensure accurate and timely payment to employees.
Bank Reconciliation: Reconcile bank statements and credit card statements. Investigate and resolve any discrepancies or issues.
Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements. Provide financial analysis and insights to management as needed.
Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations and standards. Stay up-to-date on changes in accounting principles and regulations affecting the construction industry.
Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist with budget preparation and forecasting activities. Monitor actual financial performance against budgeted targets and provide variance analysis.
General Administrative Duties: Perform general administrative tasks as needed to support the finance team and the construction company's operations.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a bookkeeper or accounting assistant, preferably in the construction industry.
- Experience with CIS returns
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks) and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and prioritise tasks effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Familiarity with construction-specific accounting practices (e.g., job costing) is a plus.
