We’re currently recruiting a Building Surveyor to provide a specialist technical support service for Stockport Homes Group. You will be working closely with a range of stakeholders including expert witnesses, liaising with in-house contractors, subcontractors and tenants / customers to deliver a wide range of repairs services.
The key purpose of this position is to deal with disrepair claims as well as project managing specialist works and working with a whole range of property types.
As the Building Surveyor, you will be responsible for:
Conducting in depth surveys utilising specialist equipment to assist in diagnosis of disrepair issues and any minor structural defects
Project managing remedial works including site visits and audit inspections
Preparing schedules of work and monitoring completion dates and all aspects of quality of both internal and external contractors
Obtaining accurate and details information about necessary repairs / improvements to properties and undertake / coordinate a range of surveys
Arranging, preparing and distributing relevant repair information to our legal team
Evaluate, agree and reconcile final accounts for major projects including fire damage works.
Our ideal candidate will have:
A recognised building qualification (HND or equivalent minimum)
A recognised trade backgrounds
Experience of working in a social housing environment
Experience and knowledge of Disrepair protocol and resolving claims
A working knowledge of Housing legislation and in particular Sections 9a, 10 & 11 of the Landlord and Tenant Act 1985, and Section 4 Defective Premises Act 1972
Knowledge of legal and regulatory requirements, Health and Safety, CDM, Asbestos at Work, Party Wall Act etc.
An understanding of and experience of the application of the HHSRS & Decent Homes legislation.
A comprehensive understanding of dampness and condensation related defects and resolutions.
