Business Analyst – Flight Operations

Flight Operations is a capability team within Safety and Airspace Regulation Group (SARG) responsible for the regulation and oversight of UK approved public transport and police operators. The Flight Operations team is focused on creating a proportionate regulatory framework in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, promoting safety and contributing towards a vibrant aviation and aerospace industry.
This role, which is a vital part of the Flight Operations team for Dangerous Goods and Ground Handling, will be leading the analysis activities on projects relating to the risk posed by undeclared or counterfeit lithium batteries as carried as air cargo, and to co-ordinate the input of CAA Subject Matter Experts (SME’s) and other internal colleagues, to the delivery of these projects.
Reporting to the Lithium Batteries Senior Project Manager, this post will support the delivery of projects through the provision and application of effective and robust business analysis activities.
Key Accountabilities:
- Ensure analysis activities are optimally planned, governed, and delivered.
- Manage the input of internal expertise into the projects workstreams.
- Compile available research and perform a gap analysis on strategies to mitigate the risk posed by undeclared/mis-declared lithium batteries in air transport.
- Lead analysis activities for projects aimed at the development of technical specification(s) for fire suppression in aircraft.
- Present research and options for consideration of senior managers.
ABOUT YOU
Essential:
- Experienced Business Analyst with demonstrable evidence of analytical skills, organising and delivering projects.
- Detailed understanding of undertaking research activities through the compilation and analysis of external reports, reconciled to internal expertise leading to comprehensive and implementable recommendations that consider the impact on industry and CAA.
- Confident and capable at communicating and using collaborative influencing and negotiation to support engagement at all levels, and skills and the ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical staff within the business.
- Able to define, justify and present solution options with clarity.
- Work collaboratively with relevant technical teams to understand the solution and adherence to requirements.
- Has a high attention to detail, and thinks holistically, particularly when forming recommendations.
- Can demonstrate experience in working through the end-to-end project lifecycle.
Desirable:
Technical knowledge of cargo handling and dangerous goods would be advantageous
