Job summary
- Are you intrigued how data influences business decisions?
If so, the Business Analyst Level 4 Apprenticeship is for you.
Dstl Digital, within Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (Dstl), is looking for you to join them as a Business Analyst apprentice. Your journey at Dstl will start in Operations (the area providing the support behind the science) as you learn, earn and deliver business improvement solutions.
You don’t need to be a digital whiz to succeed (an interest will help)…instead your talents in thinking systematically and logically will shine as you make business improvement recommendations based on data.
You will share our values collaboration, innovation and impact, which are at the heart of everything we do. You will collaborate with internal customers and suppliers. You will provide innovative recommendations to challenge norms, presenting how improvements can be made. Finally, you will see the impact you make through data and customer feedback.
Your current situation
You may have never worked in an office, you may be finishing sixth form, leaving the armed forces, looking for a career change or not enjoying your current studies. No matter what your current situation is, if you are at least 18 years old you can become join us as a Business Analyst Apprentice.

Job description
In this role you will:
- Learn and improve your data, business and analytical skills with our friendly experts and your training provider
- Identify, collate and analyse data supporting business improvements.
- Present solutions to demonstrate how technology can be used to deliver business improvements.
- Develop and manage relationships in order to understand business needs and the impact of business change.
- Use safe working practices ensuring that you and your colleagues report on any unsafe practices, no matter how big or small. You will follow safety guidelines, respecting and contributing to a strong Dstl safety culture.

We are looking for someone who has:

You will possess these essential skills:
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal

Important Information
Our work in defence, security and intelligence requires our employees to be UK Nationals who are able to gain a high level of security clearance to undertake the projects we are involved in to protect us from security threats. This role will require full UK security clearance and you should have resided in the UK for the past 5 years. You must be at least 18 years old in September 2024 to undertake this apprenticeship.
Qualifications
- Level 3 qualification (such as relevant A levels, BTEC or L3 apprenticeship), or 2+ years’ work experience)
- GCSE in Maths and English Language at Level 4/C or above (or equivalent)
