Business And Community Support Officer

Honeycomb is delighted to be partnering with a local government Public Sector client in Ballymena & is currently seeking an immediate Business and Community Support Officer. Temporary ongoing post with travel required.

The Client – This organisation operates across a broad remit through its specific departments. Currently the Public Protection, Health and Wellbeing directorate are seeking a SO1 Support Officer to assist with the delivery of positive outcomes in both public protection (licensing) and wellbeing across the district.

The Role – An exciting collaboration across multiple local government catchment areas i.e) Access to a car would be required with mileage reimbursed. This is a fixed term role until end of March 2024 at which point it will be reviewed. 37 hours per week, with the specific location of this post to be confirmed following the appointment process.

Duties would include but not be limited to:

• Validating, processing, and recommending decisions on licensing and similar applications.
• Consultation or mediation with a range of stakeholders
• Undertake own caseload and process and maintain applications and files.
• Offer appropriate assistance, information, and advice to members of the public and business.
• Undertake inspections of premises to ensure compliance with legislation and with license conditions.
• Prepare reports as requested by Lead/ Principal Environmental Health Officer.

The Person – Essential Criteria

• Third-level qualification
• 2 years’ experience (4 years without qualification) in the following areas:
• Wellbeing: any work which seeks to address/ improve; physical and/or mental health and wellbeing, Home/ Fire Safety, Energy Efficiency, Fuel Poverty.
• Public Protection: regulatory experience or similar type role e.g. Building control, fire safety, dog control, environmental health.
• Use of Microsoft Office Applications (MS Word, Outlook & PowerPoint)
• A full current driving licence valid in the UK and access to a vehicle OR have access to a form of transport that enables you to carry out the duties of the post.
• Knowledge and understanding of legal / court procedures for dealing with licence applications, prosecutions, appeals, reviews etc.
• A minimum of two of the following, or equivalent:

City and Guilds level 3 Award in Energy Awareness or equivalent

ROSPA An introduction to Home Safety

ROSPA Older People Safety in the home

ROSPA Child Safety in the Home

ROSPA Choosing and Using Home Safety Equipment

Level 2 Award in Fire Risk Assessment
