Contract Type: Permanent Could you provide analysis to the Community Education service through the delivery of dashboards, reports and stories for our Business Intelligence team?
The Business Intelligence Analyst will enable products and services to be timely, relevant, and cost-effective by providing teams with access to data and insight for Community Education within UK Operations.
This is an opportunity to collaborate across the Community Education service with management and product teams as well as front line teams for service visits. You'll be encouraged to use your initiative and bring new ideas to life.
A day in the life of a Business Intelligence Analyst will involve:
- Develop a wide range of BI solutions using tools such as SQL Server, SSIS, PowerBI Premium, DataFlows and PowerBI.
- Requirements gathering and Business Analysis: Understanding the broader business and working with others to further develop their knowledge of business processes and requirements.
- Add value by understanding business problems and scope and structure an analytical approach to solving them.
- Data access, extract and load from multiple data sources through staging, integration, derived value and business rule generation to loading into the Data Warehouse.
- Be aware of data protection and information governance requirements.
- Design solutions which promote privacy and data protection compliance from the start
- Provide ad-hoc data sets as required to support business decisions, funding bids, commissioner or service manager requests.
- Write test cases and acceptance tests.
- Working with service leads and product owners to make sure acceptance tests track the desired functionality of the story.
- Recommend data enhancements to ensure that the data is developed in line with business objectives.
- Educated to degree level in a numerate subject or equivalent by experience.
- Understanding of dashboard design tools (preferably PowerBI but Qlik,Tableau etc are relevant).
- Experience of Agile Project Management techniques and their application to different types of project.
- Demonstrable understanding of data modelling techniques.
- Understanding of the data lifecycle.
- Good understanding of data quality concepts
- Ability to interpret business requirements and create technical requirements
- Able to visualise and manipulate data from a database source.
- Automate processing tasks for transformation of data, including integrating different data types.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate technical information to a broad range of audiences
- Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills
- Excellent time management and organisational skills, able to work independently and prioritise a varied workload to meet strict deadlines
- Understanding and experience of dashboard design tools (e.g. Qlik, PowerBI, Tableau)
- Experience using Microsoft SQL or DAX to access, query and manipulate data
- Familiarity with coding in at least one language and familiar with coding constructs.
