Role specific duties and accountabilities
Horizon Scanning
- Knowledge of the data landscape including government official data, open source, grey source and restricted source data, including how to gain access to each source.
- Develop excellent working relationships with other data/information providers internally and externally across Walsall and the West Midlands.
- Awareness of/ membership of regional performance forums for analysts to exchange good practice.
- Demonstrable knowledge and ability using and applying research and statistical methodologies to performance.
Managing Resources
- Ability to manage time and effort enabling delivery to deadlines.
- Ability to be responsible for accuracy and quality of data and analysis to ensure efficiency and productivity.
- Intellectual ability to analyse and critically appraise complex information (numerical, research, findings from consultation) to support the drawing of conclusions and supporting the presentation of findings in a compelling way.
Managing Performance
- Developing practical, innovative and creative approaches to developing and sharing performance management information.
- Understanding the need for compliance with deadlines that are set locally, regionally and nationally for council delivery.
Managing Self
- Knowledge of Relational Databases, SQL, Power BI, Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Communication and influencing skills to inform, consult and negotiate with a range of audiences in a straightforward, articulate, sensitive and persuasive manner, both orally and in writing.
- Analytical skills (wide range of, both qualitative and quantitative).
