Job description

Description

The starting salary for these 24-month fixed-term positions is £31,262 per annum based on a 36-hour working week.

We now have some fantastic opportunities to join our new Intensive Family Support Service (IFSS)!

We are inviting applications for two Business Support Coordinators who will help to design, set-up and implement highly efficient operating processes for the countywide team by supporting with administration, data and finance operations. We are proud of our commitment to families in Surrey and excited to be developing more opportunities to help and support children in local communities.

  • Option to buy up to 10 days of additional annual leave
  • An extensive Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) to support health and wellbeing
  • Up to 5 days of carer's leave per year
  • Paternity, adoption and dependents leave
  • A generous local government salary related pension
  • Lifestyle discounts including gym, travel, shopping and many more
  • 2 paid volunteering days plus 1 team volunteering day per year
  • Learning and development hub where you can access a wealth of resources

About the Team

The Intensive Family Support Service (IFSS) provides intensive early help to whole families who have interconnecting needs.

IFFS teams work closely with social work colleagues and jointly with a broad range of local community partners, so families can receive help that is meaningful to them, and early enough to avoid the need for statutory interventions. We want to maximise these partnership opportunities and work together with families to enable better outcomes for children, as per the national Supporting Families Outcomes Framework.

We are welcoming applications from people local to Surrey and our surrounding borders with a broad range of experience to create multi-skilled teams that can engage with diverse families.

The service operates as four quadrant teams based across Surrey. Our four quadrants are:

  • South West Surrey – Office base location in Guildford
  • South East Surrey – Office base location in Reigate
  • North West Surrey – Office base location in Woking
  • North East Surrey – Office base location in Walton on Thames

You will be able to choose where your office base location will be as part of the application process, however you will also need to be prepared and able to travel around Surrey to support the whole service when required.

If you would like to find out more about Early Help, please refer to the National Supporting Families Outcomes Framework.

About the Role

At the heart of the Intensive Family Support Service, our dedicated Business Support Coordinators play a pivotal role in ensuring seamless operations. They are the engine that drives efficiency, focusing on lean and purposeful processes in administration, finance and data management across the service.

As a Business Support Coordinator with the team, you will be committed to providing outstanding customer service, maintaining regular communication with SCC staff, partners and families via telephone and email. In addition to routine administrative tasks, you will actively contribute to internal and external meetings, as well as broader events, ensuring a dynamic and well-supported environment.

Collaborating closely with Team Managers and the Service Manager, you will be instrumental in ensuring effective operational processes which allow practitioners to work intensively and safely with families. This is a really varied role which encompasses day-to-day administration, ongoing program development and review, as well as the use of various databases and digital tools. From handling administrative duties to presenting and scrutinising data, our Business Support Coordinators are vital contributors to showcasing positive outcomes for the families we serve.

Shortlisting Criteria

To be considered for shortlisting for this position, your application will clearly evidence the following:

  • Experience of maintaining and improving administrative processes and systems, including databases
  • Strong IT confidence
  • Ability to work with others to achieve objectives and improve customer service
  • High level administrative, organisational and analytical skills
  • Ability to prioritise and plan own workload in the context of conflicting priorities and work on own initiative

The application process for this position will consist of 4 questions related to your experience and understanding of the role together with a request to upload your CV. Please note, you are not required to submit a personal statement.

Before submitting your application, we recommend you read the attached 'Frequently Asked Questions' document which will provide more information about IFSS and the job description. Our Life at Surrey handbook also attached provides insights of the culture at Surrey and how as a valued employee, you can help shape our Council.

Contact Us

Please contact us for any questions relating to the role. This could be to discuss flexible working requests, transferable skills or any barriers to employment. For an informal discussion please email IFSS@surreycc.gov.uk and we will arrange at time to speak.

The job advert closes at 23:59 on Sunday 18th February with in-person interviews planned for w/c 26th February 2024.
