Business Systems Specialist – Finance

FTE and Working Pattern: Full-time, 35 hours weekly, hybrid role Organisation Name: Global Information Services directorate Purpose of the Role The Business Systems Specialist will report directly to the Business Systems Manager and will work closely with the Finance department and with other relevant customers to ensure that systems and processes in place are fit for purpose. They will also assist with managing updates of our internal SharePoint sites, managing the creation, and maintenance of end user help guides and ensuring our varied customer base have the best tools available to make best use of the system. Take responsibility for the ongoing management of the Finance functions within the system. Manage data updates (extract and load) required for regular processes (for example period calendar updates) Troubleshoot and/or find creative solutions to problems or limitations identified with the Finance systems. Notify /discuss system problems, outages, fixes, and change requests which need to be addressed by the vendor/provider, ensuring prompt action is taken for resolution. Work with the technical Systems Specialists to understand, plan and test functionality changes delivered through Oracle Fusion quarterly updates. Work with Finance colleagues to understand, specify, prioritise, and document changes and enhancements required to the system. Recommend required system changes through the Business Systems Manager and Continuous Improvements team, contributing to deployment and testing activities, ensuring updates are implemented in line with original build principles and maintaining the integrity of the system. Participate in system steering groups, as required, supporting the Business Systems Manager Person Specification Essential Educated to first degree level, equivalent qualification, or equivalent practical experience in the workplace, with a good level of competency in written and spoken English. Experience of implementing, configuring and / or maintaining a medium to large-scale financials product. Experience in the following areas of finance systems operations (the ideal applicant may not have experience in all areas, but as a minimum should understand a chart of accounts and the Procurements to Payments and Order to Cash processes): Chart of accounts configuration and maintenance, Ledgers, including general and sub-ledgers, Procurements to Payments process, Order to cash process, Project costing, Report specification, documentation and creation. Competent in the use of relevant IT packages, with advanced Excel experience or equivalent.
