Location: Skegness, Lincolnshire with the option to apply for Micronclean’s flexible working policy

Job Type: Permanent, Full Time
Hours of Work: Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm (with half an hour unpaid break)
Salary Range: £28,000 - £33,000 (dependent on qualifications and experience)

Job Role and Key Responsibilities

We’re looking for an enthusiastic and developing buyer to join the business at an exciting stage in its growth plans. Demand for our products is currently unprecedented and therefore there is substantial scope for personal development and wider experience gain.

Our procurement function is critical to ensuring the continuity of supply of our products and services, demonstrating excellent customer service to internal customers whilst ensuring that products and services are procured at the most competitive price to improve margin.

The Buyer will manage the procurement category of raw materials for our textile business unit and also provide an efficient procurement service to internal customers for their indirect purchasing needs. The role is a fantastic opportunity for the individual to utilise competitive procurement processes to control cost and achieve savings in a rapidly growing business.

The role’s key responsibilities include:

  • Manage and deliver a value adding procurement service for the category of textile raw materials.
  • Undertake competitive procurement processes, using requests for quotations and requests for proposals to reduce cost within the Textile Business Unit.
  • Adherence to the business stock holding and valuation policy.
  • Supporting plant managers and the finance department with the administration of end of month stock processes.
  • Displaying excellent service to internal customers.
  • Maintaining correct and up to date records on the purchasing system including purchasing documentation.
  • Generate regular reports on cost savings achieved, supplier performance, and procurement process efficiency.

Knowledge, Skills and Qualifications required:

Essential

  • Already working towards or a desire to complete a procurement related qualification, for example the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS).
  • Knowledge of the Procure to Pay (P2P) process and understanding the use of request for quotation and request for proposal documentation.
  • Knowledge of the principles and importance of supplier performance management.
  • An understanding of MRP system principles.
  • Detail orientated - highly accurate, excellent attention to detail, ability to analyse and interpret data to influence stakeholders.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook; including the ability to manipulate data, use pivot tables, graphs and lookups.

Desirable

  • Member of the Chartered Institute of Procurement of supply (MCIPS)
  • Bachelor’s degree (or degree equivalent).
  • Experience of working in pharmaceutical, Biotech, lifesciences or cleanroom sector.
  • Experience in importing goods, working with freight forwarders, related import documentation and administering landed costs.
  • Experience of purchasing and managing shelf life, regulated, batch/lot-controlled products.
  • Full, valid UK/EU driving license.
