We are seeking a Buyer (Direct and Indirect) to join a well known, reputable company based in Preston.
The company is a leading UK manufacturer of Vitamins, Minerals & Supplements to health food stores, pharmacies, and groceries, with over 190 products throughout 15 main health categories. Due to a continued period of substantial growth both in the UK and Internationally, they are now of the top 5 leading UK supplements brands, with ambitious plans to continue to grow ahead of the category, through it's award-winning innovation programme.
Reporting directly to the Site Procurement Manager. A successful applicant will oversee all planning and purchasing activity keeping all schedules in line with sales forecasts and ensuring that the optimum level of stock is maintained and SOP & GMP principles are followed whilst maximising cost savings.
The main requirements of the role are listed below;
- Handling purchasing for Direct & Indirect
- Manage deliveries and custom clearance
- Responsibility for day-to-day Procurement activities (placing and chasing orders, update orders on stock system, communicate regularly with all stakeholders and ensure paperwork is received with all supplier deliveries)
- To ensure purchase orders are raised and circulated in a swift and efficient manner
- Allocate the order to correct suppliers
- To provide accurate, relevant, and timely information and reports as required
- Updating the OTD tracker daily and plastic tax data gathering tracker weekly with relevant data
- Assist the Procurement Manager to source and follow up on NPD materials
- Be proactive with the teams when you face any difficulties at any time throughout the day
- Be flexible and adaptable and assist other team members are required to help ensure targets are met.
A successful candidate will demonstrate;
- Minimum of 1-3 years' experience in a similar role managing direct/ indirect recruitment.
- Strong analytical skills
- High level of attention to detail is critical due to dealing with large amounts of data
- Strong communication skills both written and verbal, with the ability to build relationships with various stakeholders across the business
- Ability to work under own initiative
- Excellent computer skills, including proficient in the use of the Microsoft office suite such as, Word and Excel (Advanced Excel desirable but must understand basic formulas)
- Enjoy working as part of a team
- Customs clearance knowledge - desirable
