As a Card Payments Specialist you will join our team to build out our Transactional Banking Platform for our private and corporate clients. Your focus will be on building out the Card Platform in conjunction with a multi-faceted team including Engineers, Product Owners, and like-minded Card SMEs. We're a platform team and are looking for curious and enthusiastic individuals to help us build a next generation banking platform. We're working closely with our partners to build our product and card capabilities in a modern architecture geared towards our client needs.
In our team you'll be an SME bearing practical, industry experience of the implementation and running of a card programme. Your knowledge and skillset will be used to help create a clear roadmap of our card capability for the years to come, as we modernise by replacing our existing card infrastructure

• Demonstrable experience in software development teams, with a focus on solution development, technical consulting, and project management for enterprise accounts.
• Motivation and a track record of solving technical and business problems for clients, and a people oriented approach
• Strong prioritisation skills and the ability to manage workload to meet client expectations.
• Enthusiasm for learning and staying up-to-date with industry trends.
• Experience in Payments or Risk.

What you will be doing:

• Collaborate with the transactional banking proposition team to design and implement innovative payment solutions for private clients.
• Provide expert guidance on Visa, Mastercard, and Amex regulations and compliance requirements.
• Conduct market research to stay informed about the latest trends and advancements in credit card technologies and services.
• Assist in negotiating contracts and agreements with Visa, Mastercard, and Amex networks.
• Offer training and support to internal teams on new products and services.
• Ensure that all payment solutions adhere to industry standards and best practices for security and privacy.
• Analyse client behaviour and make recommendations for enhancements or new features.
• Implement Google and Apple Pay wallet projects.
• Liaise with key partners, including Scheme, Processors, and Card Bureaus, for programme launch support.
• Generate, lead, and implement process improvement ideas for cards implementation processes and regular operating mechanisms.
• Act as a coach and mentor for your teammates.

Core skills and Experience:

• Proven experience as a Visa, Mastercard, or Amex Subject Matter Expert or similar role.
• Strong understanding of the payment card industry, including regulatory and market dynamics.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong knowledge of implementing BINs at Visa, Mastercard, or Amex.
• Experience working with BIN sponsorship and understanding the implementation process.
• Knowledge of the Card Industry, preferably in an Issuer implementation team.
• Demonstrated technical implementation support or project management experience.
• Strong project management abilities and experience leading cross-functional teams.
• Strong relationship management skills and outstanding client service and interpersonal skills.
