Category Manager - Indirect Procurement (IT)
Salary: Up to £65,000 + 15% Bonus & Very Good Pension Package
Location: We have office locations in Hertfordshire, Greater Manchester & Bristol which you can be based at
Working Pattern: 1 or 2 days in office per week. We also adopt a flexi-hours approach
Main experience required: The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge in Information Management and some knowledge in Facilities Management, but candidates who have good general Indirect Procurement knowledge can be trained on areas needing development. Experience of Indirect Procurement within an international environment is a huge bonus, but not a necessity.
The Opportunity:

We are currently looking for a Category Manager to join our department who manage procurement at group level for all software, services, hardware, cyber-security, networks, digital transformation & innovation, travel and communications. There is a particular emphasis on IT infrastructure, and you will draw on relevant expertise within our wider Indirect team to lead services other services required internationally such as facilities, security etc. Whilst most support can be delivered remotely from the UK, there is a requirement for overseas travel to support our teams in country with onboarding and running supplier performance.
What we need from you:
Previous experience of Indirect Procurement and the desire to work internationally and collaborately:
- Information Management: Either IM skills or a wide range of Indirect category experience in order to make the link with facilities, security etc.
- Facilities Management: Experience in facilitating the setting up of new offices and making sure they run as intended
- Ensure high-quality documentation aligns with standards for Gate Reviews and Contracts
- Passionate about developing business intelligence and supplier market knowledge for a strategic supplier portfolio
- Develop purchasing/sourcing policies in line with market trends and business requirements
- Manage end-to-end RFP processes, contract lifecycle, and renewal/re-tendering efforts
- Optimise costs, implement savings initiatives, and report on opportunities
- Develop and lead risk management strategies
We are looking for people with expertise and experience in some of the following areas:
- Soft skills: A passion for learning and development, Communication, Strong stakeholder management skills and able to deal at any level within an organisation
- Ability to lead and develop strategies
- Supplier relationship management
- Understanding of risk management strategies
- Understanding of Contracts and key contract terms
- CIPS qualification preferred, or equivalent experience
- Use of E-Procurement systems
- Working in an international environment (or keen to expand into an international role)
- Good knowledge of the IT industry and procurement/ability to adapt knowledge to international environment
