Salary: £40,000
Contract: 3-year FTC
HNCP is a partnership of community organisations in Highgate, set up to support local residents to live happier, healthier lives. Currently they run affordable lunch clubs in local churches, play activities for under 5s, debt, benefit and employment advice and education opportunities for children.
HNCP is in a very exciting period of development. Over the past couple of years, their main community centre building in Bertram Street Camden has been completely demolished and rebuilt. They are now ready to recruit an organised, enthusiastic Manager to help set up and lead this brand-new facility.
Central to the vision of the Centre is the delivery of an exceptional 5-star service in a 5-star environment for the benefit of our local community.
The new Centre is spread over two floors and includes:
- multi-purpose sports hall and performance space
- Café/restaurant
- Hairdressers (not for profit)
- Laundry (not for profit)
- Cooking school
- Pottery school
Key responsibilities include:
- Working effectively with trustees, staff, volunteers and Centre users to develop and deliver a programme that meets the needs of the local community
- Engaging with HNCP's wider role outside the new centre as deputy to HNCP's Director
- Ensuring that agreed targets are met by services, whether delivered directly by HNCP staff and volunteers or contractors
- Working closely with partners and stakeholders including various teams within London Borough of Camden such as facilities management, communities' team, highways etc, local businesses and resident groups
- Putting the safety of customers and the staff team at the highest priority and acting as champion in all matters relating to Health and Safety and working with the Caretaking team, ensuring legislative compliance and best practice throughout the Centre
- Leading on all staffing processes for the community Centre, including recruiting a skilled and diverse team and leading on performance management and training issues
- Preparing budgets for the Centre and monitoring income and expenditure against them.
- Optimise rental and hiring opportunities to maximise the income HNCP can generate through its activities, premises and services
- Form collaborative links and alliances with organisations and agencies from all sectors that can be developed into active partnerships for new business ventures
- Establishing and contributing to fundraising initiatives
- Leading on Health and Safety and safe guarding for the centre, including working with other groups and Camden Council for a joint up approach on the site
The successful candidate will have strategic, financial and staff management experience at a senior level in a medium-sized organisation, along with the development and management of funding initiatives and projects.
The Centre will be a lively and stimulating environment, with varied and unpredictable challenges, requiring a Manager who is happy to take the initiative and take responsible decisions.
