Centre Manager for the Centre of Excellence in Water Based Early Warning Systems for Health Protection Applications are invited for a Centre Manager position in the Centre of Excellence in Water Based Early Warning Systems for Health Protection. About the Centre We’re working to transform public and environmental health management, establishing the first Urban Living Lab facility; a state-of-the-art digital water sensing platform, training base and ideas hub. The centre combines sensing, mathematical modelling, data analytics and informatics with epidemiology and public engagement tools to provide low-cost and real-time community-wide testing of population health and the environment. About the position The Centre Manager will have joint responsibility for the development and delivery of the recently awarded Centre of Excellence in Water Based Early Warning Systems for Health Protection encompassing both research and doctoral training. This wide-ranging role has responsibility for delivering the strategy of the Centre, both within the long-term vision and on a daily basis. This will require working closely with the Centre Executive and its directors, as well as academic and industrial partners. Operationally, the Centre Manager will oversee the Centre’s resources, including budgets, ensuring key deliverables are realised. A key responsibility of the position will be professional facilitation of research and doctoral training activities including, day-to-day operations of the centre, engagement with partners, external presence/communications, delivery of co-creation hubs and annual symposia. The Centre Manager is also responsible for public engagement, impact activities and liaison with funding bodies (E3 and UKRI) and will pursue long-term engagement with new and existing UK and international industrial and academic partners. This position will also include working to develop research internships and secondments. Additional notes: This position is available from September 2024 for an initial period of 5 years with an expectation to transition to permanent after the first 5 years.
