One of the fastest developing technologies in the automotive sector is that of the electric propulsion system, and particularly the area of charging. The Charging Group at JLR is expanding it’s capability and bringing in-house some of the key software components, in order to stay ahead of the competition, offering the highest availability of vehicle charging infrastructure support.

 

This role is responsible for leading the team of software test engineers, who are rapidly and rigorously testing the next generation of on-board charging and battery control systems. The team are challenged to seek out all bugs before the release gets anywhere near a car, thus supporting the wider engineering team by maximising their development time on vehicles and providing the highest quality to our customers.

 

What you’ll need

 

You will lead a team of skilled software test engineers, who are responsible for: Software Development Test Engineering (High Tech) work focusing on developing software to test multiple types/categories of software including end-user applications and operating systems/utility software (which provides a platform for running end user applications for external customers.

 

The scope of work includes: Developing and directing the preparation and execution of comprehensive test plans, quality assurance plans, procedures, and schedules planning and conducting software testing (including using programming languages to write code for use in testing the application/software code), performing analysis of test results, and tracking/reporting risk levels during test execution.

 

You will be expected to run test automation platforms, MiL, SiL and signal-level HiL test environments whilst defining, planning, tracking and manage the required resource profile to cover the deliverables as set out by the Product Owners in the Charging Group Squads.

 

You will perform the role of line manager for the SW V&V chapter members, tracking hours, absence, overtime, performance and development. Additionally, you will report the status of the chapter to the Senior Manager – Charging Systems Delivery in terms of resource utilisation, skills gaps, development pathways and employee satisfaction.

 

Knowledge, skills & experience

 

Essential

  • Previous line management responsibilities for a team of 5 or more
  • Experience in recruiting and developing a team
  • Experience with operating test automation platforms
  • Experience in developing and running MiL, SiL and signal-level HiL test environments
  • DevOps or similar working practice experience
