Leeds Community Foundation supports charities and voluntary groups across Leeds and Bradford, addressing inequalities and working together to support those that need help the most.
We have distributed over £60 million in grants to date across Leeds and Bradford, enabling positive change in the lives of hundreds of thousands of people in our communities.
We’re now looking for a Chief Operating Officer to join us on a full-time, permanent basis, working 35 hours per week. There may be some need to work outside of normal office hours for which time off in lieu will be given.

The Role
As Chief Operating Officer, you will act as a deputy to the Chief Executive and oversee and manage the efficiency of our operations.
In this brand new position, you will be pivotal in leading the implementation of our five-year strategy to improve our operational efficiency and diversify our income streams.
You will collaborate with key team members to drive growth and sustainability, ensuring that our processes are community-centric, as well as building strong relationships with donors and partners.
Leading efficient processes and systems across our organisation, you will develop a decision-making structure that speaks to our values and oversee the end to-end customer journey for donors and community organisations. Additionally, you will ensure we are able to meet our ambitions to modernise our operations and governance by making sure we have the capacity to build relationships and continue our community work.
Within your first two years in this role, you will:
- Ensure alignment between the execution of our strategy and our operational activities
- Develop an organisation-wide monitoring and reporting system
- Facilitate our transformation to an insight-led and learning organisation
- Apply an agile solution mindset to operational challenges
- Secure efficiencies across all our work and processes
About You
To join us as our Chief Operating Officer, you will need:
- Senior management experience within a charity or similar organisation
- Proven experience of supporting and implementing business strategy in a senior leadership or consulting role
- Experience of leading systems and changes to process and culture
- Experience of developing effective user-focused operational systems, policies and processes
- The ability to develop budgets for new projects and partnerships, with strong financial acumen
- Strong leadership skills
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
