Black Country Women's Aid (BCWA) is an established charity working across the Black Country and wider West Midlands providing accommodation and community support services to victims of domestic abuse, sexual abuse and human trafficking.
Services range from advocacy, civil remedies, support in court, individual and group support and access to a range of therapeutic interventions.
All services are client and needs-led.
The Therapeutic and Wellbeing Services:
Our Therapeutic and Wellbeing Services consists of an experienced team of counsellors and associates providing a range of modalities to counsel all genders of domestic and sexual violence and childhood sexual abuse.
Counselling is provided both face-to-face and online and up to 12 sessions is provided.
The service manages a waiting list as demand can be high.
Wellbeing services is a further offer that builds on a victim's confidence and assists to building a state of being healthy, happy, and comfortable, both physically and mentally.


This service strives to instil trust and confidence recognizing that we can never change what has happened, we can help to shape a positive future.
Job Role
Job Title: Children and Young Person's Counsellor
Positions available: Fixed term until March 2025, 15 hours (2 days per week) weekdays.
Salary: £25,946.10 (FTE) £11,551.20 (pro rata)
Closing date: Friday 9th February
Interview date: Week commencing 19th February 2024

Is this you?
We are looking for a qualified and experienced counsellor who has experience of working therapeutically with Children and Young people who have experienced trauma.
You will carry a caseload which includes all aspects of case management including risk assessment, arranging appointments, and all aspects of case administration.
The Role:
The successful candidate will provide person-centred age, appropriate therapeutic interventions to Children and Young people (5-18) identified by defined referral routes e.g.
Paediatric Sexual Assault Referral Centre (PSARC).
The position is located within the Therapeutic and Wellbeing Service and will play a vital role in helping Children and Young people cope and recover from their experience and avoid negative impact in later life.


The counsellor will work closely with colleagues across the organisation supporting Children and Young people including and especially the Children &Young People Independent Sexual Violence Adviser (CHISVA) and Young Person's Independent Domestic Abuse Advisor.


The post holder may be required at times to offer counselling to adults in line with the demands of the service.
You will be part of a busy team and undertake the necessary administration that accompanies the sessions/ team and liaise with professionals as necessary.
