Claims Handler - Settlements Longbenton, Newcastle (Hybrid - once fully competent in the role) Shift: Monday to Friday 09:00 -17:00. 36 hours per week Salary starting from £24,960 per annum & Benefits Closing date: 05/04/2024 Opportunity We’re currently recruiting for Insurance Claims Handlers for our Insurance team starting on 6th May 2024. As a Claims Handler you’ll support Tesco Customers through their insurance claims journey from notification to settlement. In this busy and varied role, you’ll provide an excellent customer experience for our Customers. We’re looking for people who’ll listen effectively, ask the right questions, and treat Customers as they would want to be treated. Our Claims Settlement Management Team are a welcoming and supportive group, so you’ll have plenty of opportunity to succeed in your new role! Training Excellent Training provided. You’ll start your journey with 6-8 weeks of onsite training to give you the best start and tools in your career. Training for this role will be office based on Monday to Friday 09:00 -17:00, 36 hours per week and once confirmed competent in role you’ll have the opportunity to move to hybrid working if certain criteria is met. The Role * You’ll manage a portfolio of claims as efficiently as possible, providing a high standard of service to our Insurance Customers. * Not only will you have excellent communication skills to help customers, you’ll develop relationships with colleagues and third-party representatives - insurers, solicitors, credit hire companies and suppliers. * Carrying out a range of information gathering and data processing activities to support the administration of insurance claims. Conducting an initial review of claims documentation to identify further information needed and/or to allocate cases to the appropriate claims’ specialists/investigators. * Interviewing claimants to evaluate straightforward low value claims. It’s important to demonstrate an ability to make decisions and take ownership for them. You must be able to show empathy and resilience when dealing with difficult and challenging situations involving our customers. You will always maintain a sensitive, caring and professional approach. There is a lot of freedom to manage your own case workload and use your best judgement to provide a quality service for customers. What skills and experience do you need to be a Claims Handler? * Insurance or Financial Services is essential. * Claims experience (or motor insurance/broker experience) and complaint handling would be desirable. * Be able to effectively manage and prioritise your caseload of claims. * Resolution focused and resilient. * Excellent verbal and written communication skills. * A common-sense approach with the ability to make robust decisions based on the information presented. * Self-motivated and able to manage your time effectively with caseloads. * Robust computer skills and ability to use new software.
