Established in 2011, the Stand Together Network (STN) is a renowned training centre in North London. We specialise in offering support services and training programs to the Black, Asian, Minority Ethnic and Refugee (BAMER) communities predominantly women, as well as those from low socio-economic backgrounds. Our diverse course offerings include both accredited and non-accredited educational and vocational programs. These cover key areas such as ESOL, computer literacy, English language, numeracy, employability skills, care qualifications, and First Aid, among others. Our courses are designed to support both young people and adults, aiding them in realising their potential. At STN, our mission is to empower our beneficiaries by providing them with valuable certifications, thereby helping them fulfill their career and educational goals.
What are we looking for?
We are seeking empathetic and compassionate individuals for the role of Classroom Trainee Teacher or Learning Support Assistant. This role is ideal for those passionate about fostering a nurturing learning environment. It serves as an excellent first job for those eager to gain experience in teaching and learning. Working alongside experienced teachers and assessors, you will have the opportunity to make a significant impact in adult education. Additionally, you will participate in a trainee program within our organisation to develop your teaching skills. No previous experience is required as full training will be provided.
Job Description
- Recruit and interview students, provide course info, assist with enrolment, assess student needs and levels, and maintain assessment records.
- Collaborate with the admin team to design promotional materials like flyers and social media posts.
- Support teachers in classroom setup, presentation creation, and ensuring teaching materials are available.
- Develop resources for individual students, groups, classes, and team-teaching scenarios.
- Guide students to alternative educational or work pathways if needed.
- Stay updated with curriculum developments in basic English, maths, and ICT, and tailor teaching to accommodate various student levels and needs.
- Develop language, literacy, and ICT skills of all students.
- Regularly assess learning effectiveness and use assessments to enhance student progress.
- Encourage the use of technologies like smart boards, software, and online educational websites.
- Provide clear instructions for tasks, adapt teaching methods to cater to all learners.
- Manage difficult situations or behaviours using appropriate strategies.
- Support students to maximize their learning experience and assist with any issues they encounter at STN.
- Assist students needing extra support, set follow-up tasks or homework.
- Ensure tasks are paced appropriately for all learners.
- Participate in team meetings and maintain communications.
- Enhance teaching skills by participating in STN’s professional development training and lesson observations.
- Promote STN’s policies on inclusivity, equality, diversity, health and safety, and safeguarding.
- Establish a safe, engaging learning environment that promotes independent learning skills.
- Promote an inclusive, supportive learning environment for all learners.
- Demonstrate high standards of personal and professional conduct.
- Adhere to STN’s IT and data protection policies.
