Job description

Company Overview

MFS® is an active investment manager with a century of experience and as one of the world’s largest investment managers, MFS serves clients around the globe and across asset classes, selling our products through financial intermediaries.

In our business, it’s our people who make what we do possible, and we consider them our most valuable asset. Our culture and work environment remind us to do the right thing for our clients and each other.

Contribute to something meaningful

Just as important as the way we work is the meaningful work we do. The money in our care represents someone’s future.

Belong to a team that cares about you

Being part of a team at MFS means being cared for, respected, trusted and valued for what you bring to the table. That takes a special kind of teamwork — not only working together but also believing there is strength in our differences.

Thrive professionally and personally

MFS supports each employee’s whole self, so they can thrive personally and professionally here.

What we look for

We want team players, long-term thinkers, problem solvers and intellectually curious individuals — people who are looking to grow in their own careers, while contributing to something bigger than themselves. We take the time to identify the right talent because we believe it’s far easier to teach on-the-job skills to a passionate and collaborative life-long learner than it is to change someone’s value system.

Programme information

We are looking for two apprentices to join our Client Services Group in the Distribution (Client & Sales) Team. On our programme, you will be introduced to investment management, gain industry knowledge and experience and develop relationships to help you progress your career.

Full training will be provided; internally from experienced members of the team, and you will spend 20% of your time with our external apprenticeship provider studying towards the Level 3 Financial Services Administration qualification.

For the first year of your employment, you will be part of the Investment 20/20 programme, which will give you opportunities to meet and network with over 300 trainees across the industry, and participate in socials and insight events.

Our apprenticeship programme is a fixed term contract for 22 months paying a competitive salary, eligible to an annual bonus plus a one-off starting bonus. Other benefits include pension, private medical and 30 days annual leave. These roles are hybrid based in London working from home for two days per week when not at college.

The Team

You will be part of the Distribution Client Service Engagement Team, which is made up of around 30 colleagues. The key function of the team is providing a seamless experience in all facets of client engagement, including meetings, events and roadshows. The team is part of the wider Client Services Group and together they manage internal and external relationships with clients and prospects, and delivering consistently excellent customer service.

The core role of Client Service Apprentices will be to provide support to the Global Client Sales Engagement team in creating accurate marketing materials for clients and sales engagement activities. You will start to build professional working relationships and work with the team on range of other tasks, projects and at events that support the team’s work.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the Client Service team to manage the marketing content creation process via the project management of partner teams.
  • Supporting the team in creating customised sales and marketing presentations, Client Review Books and other materials to enhance the sales process and client relationship management. You will be trained to source and review customised data.
  • Learning to use the CRM (Client Relationship Management) Database to manage client information.
  • Learning how to assess and manage enquiries to the team.
  • Provide support where necessary to the Client Service team on all aspects of internal meeting and external events such as roadshows, product- focused events and industry conferences. Liaising with the Marketing, Event Planning and Speaker Co-ordination Teams as needed.
  • Be trained to understand and apply business and compliance rules across all our work.

Skills and requirements

If you are a school or college leaver, who has just finished their A-Levels, BTEC, NVQ or T-Levels, with keen interest in working within financial services and has the following attributes, we would like to hear from you:

  • A people person with a customer-focused approach
  • A team player with a proactive attitude to learning, and who enjoys developing new skills;
  • Good IT skills and enjoys working with Power Point and Excel.
  • Is intellectually curious, and enjoys interpreting information and problem solving;
  • Good organisational skills, able to multi-task and meet deadlines;
  • A good communicator, both spoken and written.
