A Vacancy at Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 3 HCA/Admin Support Worker to work alongside the Paediatric Diabetes Specialist Nursing Team. The successful candidate will be someone who can work independently but also as part of a team. Be enthusiastic but like a challenge and be able to work under pressure to meet deadlines. The role will have some clinical elements when relevant experience has been gained, you will then be involved in dealing directly with patients and their care but you will also be expected to input data onto databases, plan clinics, admin work and deliver items to patients. The role will develop with time and you will learn through getting to know how the teams work what is required for the Specialist Nurses to continue to provide a high quality service to their patients and their families.
• Deal with answer phone messages
• · Answer calls & telephone parents / other health professionals
• · Communicate messages to the Nurses within the team
• · Liaise with the secretaries and consultants
• · Input information onto Databases
• · Update information on EMIS/Hiss/Maxims systems
• · Booking rooms for education sessions: eg school workshops and group education sessions: sending out invites; arranging packs for sessions. Follow up to sessions by emailing out info attendees.
• · Monthly review of Nexus to feed into MDT meetings
• · Liaising with team and other multi-agency teams (internal and external) and arranging meetings where required
• Ordering of equipment/stores for the teams
• · Ordering of patients own stores e.g. consumables
• · Clean / check safety of equipment used by nursing teams
• · Demonstrate the use of equipment to families
• · Conduct home visits to organise and deliver medications
• · Patient observations if required by nursing teams
• · Demonstrate the use of equipment trained to use to patients/carers
• · To assist the admin team to ensure the tasks are completed in a timely manner
• · To assist with audits when needed
• · Assisting with group education sessions
• · Setting up and tracking patients attending specialist clinics and special school clinics

• · Supporting staff in clinic by following up inputting to Nexus, highlighting missing info.
• · Monthly review of Nexus to feed into MDT meetings
• · Liaising with team and other multi-agency teams (internal and external) and arranging meetings where required
• Ordering of equipment/stores for the teams
• · Ordering of patients own stores e.g. consumables
• · Collect pharmacy for the teams
• · Deliver prescriptions / medications to the patients home
• · Clean / check safety of equipment used by nursing teams
• · Demonstrate the use of equipment to families
• · Conduct home visits to organise and deliver medications
• · Patient observations if required by nursing teams
• · Assist in clinics, distracting patients during invasive procedures
• · Weight and heights and other specific tests required by the nursing teams
• · Demonstrate the use of equipment trained to use to patients/carers
• · To assist the specialist nursing teams to provide seamless care for their patients and families
• · To assist the admin team to ensure the tasks are completed in a timely manner
• · To assist with audits when needed
• · Assisting with group education sessions
• · Setting up and tracking patients attending specialist clinics and special school clinics
